London: James Rivington and James Fletcher. 1759. 8vo. 2 volumes (20),455;(8),387,(1)pp. Complete with the folding map (one small repaired tear) and 4 copper engraved plates. Orig. full calf, rebacked at an early date, with most of the original backstrips laid down. Original red morocco spine labels (label of Vol. 1 with a small loss). Cont. ownership signature in both volumes of one Samuel Dodge. Edges of covers a bit worn, but overall a very nice set in its original binding.	$3,750.00 (trade discount allowed)
One of the key early texts on California, which first appeared in Spanish in 1757. It was quickly translated into Dutch, French (note: we have Carl Wheat's set of the first French edition), and German. Zamorano 80 #78; Wagner, Spanish Southwest 132a; Howes V69.
