One of MANY fine GEORGE BERNARD SHAW items (letters, manuscripts, signed
books, photographs, etc.) in our inventory which can be seen at
http://www.charlesagvent.com
SHAW, George Bernard. AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED (ALS) on a postcard with
an original photograph of Shaw on the recto. (London), 26 June 1930. On
the verso of a postcard with an original photograph of Shaw on the recto
sitting in a chair. The photograph is signed in the negative, but it is
on a dark portion and difficult to read. Addressed to Mrs. Pakenham
Beatty, wife of a poet who was a friend of Shaw's since the early 1880s
and also his main sparring partner as both Beatty and Shaw were devoted
prizefighting fans. Mrs. Beatty also gave Shaw lessons in French. In
full: "G. W.'s London address is 14 Pall Mall 5W1. His American address
is 145 West 57th Street, New York City. RS 25 Haymarket 5W1, is an
agent, not a dealer. But the market has been gutted; and the boom in
letters must be over. G.W., I know, is surfeited. However, one can
always try. I shall be pleased as you if anything comes of it." SIGNED
"G. Bernard Shaw." Minor corner wear. Near Fine. (#013125) $750.00
