[KING, Stephen] [ROMERO, George] MALORY, [Sir Thomas]. THE ROMANCE OF
KING ARTHUR AND HIS KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE. Inscribed by the King of
Horror to the Father of Horror Films. (New York): Macmillan and Co.,
Limited, (1979). First Thus. Abridged by Alfred W. Pollard and
illustrated in color and black-and-white by Arthur Rackham. INSCRIBED on
the title page by Stephen King to filmmaker George Romero: George--/I
want to congratulate you again on a/stunning and beautiful piece of
filmmaking./Here's something that I thought might, in view/of the
Knightriders subject-matter, ring a bell--/Steve King/2-6-81." The
allusion by King is to the 1981 Romero film KNIGHTRIDERS, based on
Arthurian legend about a group of modern-day jousters who reenact
tournaments on motorcycles. King and his wife Tabitha had a 20-second
cameo in the film. The following year the Romero film CREEPSHOW, written
by King, came out. Romero would later make one of the better film
adaptions of a King book, THE DARK HALF. Fine in a Fine dustwrapper.

George Romero was inspired to make horror films after making a segment
for Mister Rogers' Neighborhood in which Mr. Rogers underwent a
tonsillectomy. His first film, Night of the Living Dead (1968), sparked
interest in zombies, currently in full blossom. (#017299) $1,500.00
