Huttich, Johann. IMPERATORUM ET CAESARUM VITAE CUM IMAGINIBUS AD VIVAM
EFFIGIEM EXPRESSIS..., 1534 [and] CONSULUM ROMANORUM..., 1537. Strasbourg:
W. Koephel, 1534-1537. Fourth edition (first thus). Two volumes bound as
one. Illustrated throughout with portraits as they appear on Roman coins,
along with headpieces, tailpieces, and printer's devices. Bound in laced
vellum, blind-tooled designs, raised bands. The binding shows signs of its
age, although sound. A bookplate inside the cover appears to be a photocopy
of an old one. 7.75" x 5.5"
First published by Koephel in 1525, this fourth edition is the first one
with the Consulum Romanorum supplement, illustrating some 54 consular coins
in addition to the many coins shown in the Imperatorum. The illustrations
are woodcuts by Hans Weiditz. [Pictures by request.] $2,500.00
