TITLE: “Pennsylvania German Designs. A Portfolio of Silk Screen Prints”

Published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1943.

DISCUSSION: A charming and interesting portfolio of silk-screened designs
and motifs from antique Pennsylvania German antiques- painted chests,
pottery, frakturs and such, selected from The Index of American Design. On
the back of each print there is a description of the design and a
discussion about the antique it his featured on. The 'Index' is a series
of some 15,000 watercolors of American antiques, produced as a WPA project
in the 1930s and housed in the National Gallery of Art.

DESCRIPTION: Card portfolio. 11"x14", 2-page text sheet and 20
silkscreened color plates mounted on heavy card, with descriptive text on
the verso.

CONDITION NOTES: Minor soil, light wear to the plates. The portfolio
covers have some light soil, and some wear and threading.
