We are pleased to offer:

Kustel, Guido. ROASTING OF GOLD AND SILVER ORES, AND THE EXTRACTION OF THEIR RESPECTIVE METALS WITHOUT QUICKSILVER. San Francisco: A.J. Leary, stationer and printer, 1880. 156, 4 [adv.] pp. Illus. with 21 in-text b/w drawings. 8vo. Publisher's brown pebbled cloth with gilt titles. Second edition (New edition). An early uncommon work on metallurgy, much revised in this new edition. Guido Kustel (1817-1882), Austrian born and educated in Germany, was one of the most influential and best known western mining engineers and metallurgists, and quite active in the Comstock lode. His earlier work, "Processes of Gold and Silver Extraction," (1863) was a sensation, and a new mineral he discovered was named 'Kustelite'. A very good copy, minor wear to spine ends, scuffed spot on rear board, faint New Orleans bookseller stamp on bottom margin of title page, owner's signature. [40943] $250.00
