HEARTFIELD, John. PHOTOMONTAGEN ZUR ZEITGESCHICHTE I. Zurich: Kultur und
Volk, [1945]. First Edition. Stiff orange wraps with printed paper
labels on the front cover and spine, dustwrapper printed in black and
orange and illustrated on the verso (4-1/4" x 6-7/8"). Includes essays
by Alfred Durus, Wolf Reiss, and Louis Aragon. Illustrated with with 21
sepia reproductions by this pioneer in the use of art as a political
weapon, with most of the illustrations making anti-Nazi or anti-Fascist
statements. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the artist on the front endpaper to
author Douglas Newton "with best wishes" and dated London 1 June 1946.
Quite scarce to find a signed copy. Near Fine in a lightly soiled, Near
