Handsome book which contains an actual cast bronze medal of about 2 1/2" 
diameter housed in a pasteboard mount within the textblock. The text 
consists of scholarly essays by Olcutt ("The Medal: Its Origin and 
Symbolism") and Jones ("The Lincoln Centennial Commemoration") and 
examples of Lincoln's best prose, including his farewell address at 
Springfield, his letter to General Hooker, the Gettysburg Address, the 
Bixby Letter, the Second Inaugural, and more. MONAGHAN #1621. Bound in 
dark blue cloth over boards with gilt-stamped spine and upper board, 
photographic illustration of the Roiné medal onlaid on upper board, all 
edges gilt. Minor rubs at corner tips, shallow bump to top fore corner 
of lower board. Mounting board inside chipping top fore corner to a 
depth of about .25". Overall the book remains tight with gilt to spine 
and upper board crisp and bright....... $300.00
