gilt miter devices and leather labels, gilt-ruled boards with rosettes,
gilt view of cathedral stamped on all covers, marbled endpapers and edges.

Sir Astley Paston Cooper, an English surgeon and anatomist, made important
contributions to the fields of otology, vascular surgery, the anatomy and
pathology of the mammary glands and testicles, and the pathology and
surgery of hernia. This readable account of his life, work and travels was
