TITLE: “The Tiger Roars. Hunting the man-eaters of India”

By Kenneth Anderson.
Published in New York by Weybright and Talley in 1967.

DISCUSSION: Kenneth Anderson [1910–1974] was an Indian writer and hunter
who wrote many books about his adventures in the jungles of South India.
Born of a Scots family which had been in India for 6 generations, Anderson
grew up loving the jungle and its animals, but that did not stop him from
making shooting some of them his vocation.

"As a hunter, he tracked down man-eating tigers and leopards to eliminate
the threat they posed to villages. Unlike Jim Corbett, who hunted in North
India, Anderson hunted in South India. He had cultivated a strong network
of informants among the villagers and tribals who rushed to inform him as
soon as a maneater emerged. His style of writing is unassuming,
descriptive and engaging as he talks about his adventures with many wild
animals.”

This book includes tales of the lame Horror of Peddacheruvu, the Dumb
Man-Eater of Talavadi, the Killer of the Wynaad, the man-hater of
Talainovu, and Sher Khan and the Bettamugalam Man-Eater.
