The catalog to an auction held in Paris by the Galerie Georges Petit on
May 25-28th, 1914.

DISCUSSION: Arthur Sambon [1867-1947], son of noted numismatist and dealer
Jules Sambon, was himself an antique dealer and numismatist of world-wide
note and President of the Chambre des experts d'art de Paris. His clients
included Pierpont Morgan and Calouste Gulbenkian. This auction features
Egyptian and Roman antiquities, Persian illuminations and pottery, ancient
sculpture and bronzes, antique ceramics and della Robbia pieces, Mediaeval
marbles, and what may be the only surviving relief from Desiderio's
celebrated Tabernacle of the Sacrament in San Pier Maggiore, Florence.

DESCRIPTION: Card covers. 10"x13", 100 pages, 470 lots, frontispiece of a
3rd Dynasty Egyptian polychrome seated pair of figures and a colored plate
of a 13th century Persian faience reticulated water pitcher, plus 53 black
& white and gravure plates, most with tissue guards.

CONDITION NOTES: Covers soiled and worn, front cover detached, stain to
top margin of first few pages.
