LIMITED EDITION of 1,500 copies printed on 170 gsm Parilux TCF glossy stock and bound with Winterbottom’s X Quality, Shade 227x in T design red cloth.

Half-title, color frontispiece of Archibald Winterbottom, illustrations throughout (many color), 11 pages with color book cloth samples tipped in; text clean, unmarked.  Red cloth over beveled boards, spine titled in gilt, top edge gilt; binding square and tight.  Comes with a matching cloth-covered slip case.  Fine. 

The first, and perhaps the only, comprehensive study of the history and art of book cloth manufacture.  It documents the rise of the Winterbottom firm to become the dominant producer in England and the United States during the twentieth century.
