THE 1933 INAUGURATION =>

“Official Program of the Inaugural Ceremonies Inducting into office
Franklin D. Roosevelt, President of the United States – John N. Garner,
Vice President of the United States. March 4, 1933”

Published in Washington in 1933

DISCUSSION: The official program for FDR’s first inauguration, it includes
the order of events, details and participants in the inaugural parade and
ball, photos and biographies of the incoming President and Vice President
and their families, and much historical background information of past
presidents, Washington, D.C., and related information.

DESCRIPTION: Softcover. 8.5”x11”, 64 pages, black & white illustrations.
With a period news clipping about FDR.

CONDITION NOTES: Some light cover soil and minor wear.

Invitation to the 1937 Franklin D. Roosevelt Inaugural Ceremonies, with
additional related inauguration ephemera

- Invitation, with tissue-guarded portraits of FDR and Vice President John
N. Garner, with its envelope, numbered 551, with the printed note
“Inaugural Platform C”

-Printed “Inauguration Ceremonies Program, January Twentieth, Nineteen
Hundred Thirty-seven”, bound with a red, white and blue ribbon tie,

-“Official Program of the Inaugural Ceremonies Inducting into office
Franklin D. Roosevelt, President of the United States – John N. Garner,
Vice President of the United States. January 20, 1937”

-Inauguration Ceremonies printed ticket, admitting the “bearer to Section
C of the Inaugural Platform”

-Ticket to the Inauguration Ceremonies at Lafayette Park, Stand 4
(counterfoil removed)

Small white envelope from “The White House” hand addressed to “Miss
Margaret Warren c/o Mr. Charles Warren, 1527 Eighteenth Street”, with a
partially–printed card inside noting that “Mrs. Roosevelt will be glad to
receive Miss Warren on Monday afternoon January the twenty-fifth at four
o’clock”.

Margaret Warren was the daughter of Charles Warren [1868-1954]. Charles
Warren was a legal scholar, Assistant Attorney General under Woodrow
Wilson, drafter of the Espionage Act of 1917, and author of a number of
books on the legal history of the Untied States, including the 1923
Pulitzer prize-winning “The Supreme Court in United States History”.

He served on several Presidential boards and committees during the
Roosevelt administration.

CONDITION NOTES: Envelope soiled and toned, invitation and Inauguration
Ceremonies program slightly age-toned, the Official Inaugural Program worn
and with chipped covers and some soil.

- VIP Invitation, with tissue-guarded portraits of FDR and Vice President
Henry Wallace

- Envelope, numbered 183 with the printed note “Inaugural Platform A,
Reservation: Guest of a Senator”

- Printed “Inauguration Ceremonies Program, January Twentieth, Nineteen
Hundred Forty-one”, bound with a red, white and blue ribbon tie.

CONDITION NOTES: Envelope with some soil, invitation age-toned at the edges.
