xii, 775 pages. Illustrated with 2 folding frontispieces, one in color, 
a large folding map in the rear pocket of the second volume, 15 
full-page plates, and 55 illustrations in the text. Armorial bookplate 
of R. S. Williams on each front pastedown. Library bookplates on al 
pastedowns, faint ink stamp on both title pages, paper label on spines. 
Paper splits to hinges but covers tight; dampstain to the top margin of 
the first hundred pages in Volume I. Good, sound set. (#004139)

Telegraph" from letters published under the title "By Sea and Land" in 
that Journal. Beautifully decorated cloth; x, 530 pages. A few chapters 
on America, but mostly on Japan in this account of the author's travels 
from England to Japan by going across the United States. Illustrated 
with many full-page black-and-white reproductions of photographs, 
including one of a man demonstrating Hara-Kiri, and illustrations in the 
text. Front hinge cracked but tight. Still Very Good. (#004635)
