64 individual issues.  8vo.  Land of Sunshine: 9 1/4 x 6 1/4 inches.  Out West: 10 x 7 inches.  Various paginations.  Each issue has separately paginated period advertisements at the front and rear.  Contains the fiction and non-fiction of the South West, including photographic journeys to towns settled by the Spanish and Mexicans, information on the preservation of the California Missions, Native Americans and much, much more; text clean.  Original printed wrappers, yapp edges; bindings square and tight, edges chipped, many with moderate loss, a few of the earliest issues have some scribbling on the front covers, a few lacking front or rear covers.  A Good set of this very fragile publication. 

A very long run of Charles Lummis' outstanding periodicals, Land of Sunshine and two issues of the successor journal, Out West.  The Land of Sunshine published works by famous authors such as John Muir and Jack London.  During its 11 years with Lummis as editor, Lummis wrote more than 500 pieces for the magazine, as well as the popular monthly commentary called "In the Lion’s Den."  There is much material in these issues on Lummis' Landmarks Club of Southern California, an all-volunteer, privately funded group dedicated to the preservation of California's deteriorating Spanish missions.
