I can offer...

De Hass, Wills. History of the Early Settlement and Indian Wars of Western Virginia; Embracing an Account of the Various Expeditions in the West, Previous to 1795. Also, Biographical Sketches… . Wheeling: H. Hoblitzell; Philadelphia: King & Baird, 1851. First edition. With five plates, one of them folding, and numerous woodcuts in the text. 8vo, original brown cloth gilt. 416 pp. Spine and edges worn, front flyleaf torn out; stain to the upper right corner of the binding that extends to the first couple of prelims but disappears before the title-page. One page of text with some staining, a few leaves dog-eared, otherwise internally very clean. Overall a good copy of a book seldom found in fine condition.
“The prime source on the area” (Streeter III, 1347). De Hass, who was a corresponding member of the Maryland and New York Historical Societies, says in his Preface: “In the preparation of this volume, we have labored to present not a mere compilation of facts, but a history drawn from sources original and reliable. To accomplish this, the very best means have been adopted; public documents searched, private records examined; and the living witnesses who still linger among us,--sole depositories of many important historical facts, without which our annals would be imcomplete personally consulted.” Howes, D-223; Sabin 19308.
