Greetings,

Back Creek Books is pleased to offer:
~
Maclean, Norman. /A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT AND OTHER STORIES (with TLS by
John Maclean)./
Chicago: University of Chicago Press, (1993). Twenty-First printing,
Full cloth, Octavo, xiv, 217 pages, drawings by R. Williams. Near fine
in a near fine dust jacket, Jacket in Mylar protector.
The author's son, John Maclean, has SIGNED a typewritten, one
page statement on the early printings of /A River Runs Through It/ which
is included. // His father's book is, of course, one of the classics of
fly fishing writing. The senior Maclean grew up in Missoula, Montana in
the early 1900's. He retired from the University of Chicago in 1973
where he was William Rainey Harper Professor of English. Though he wrote
a few minor things in his career, it was not until his retirement at age
70 that he really set out to write. This beautifully written book
explores family relationships, man's place in nature, and of course fly
fishing. Bound in dark blue cloth over boards with spine titled in
silver foil. The University of Chicago no longer publishes this original
book and jacket format, so this is a nice copy of the book as it
originally appeared, with the added bonus of a letter signed by the
author's son describing its early publishing history...... $100.00
