WILSON, Woodrow. THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. New York & London:
Harper & Brothers, 1916. First Edition. Small octavo (4-1/2" x 7") in
the publisher's gilt-lettered and ruled blue cloth. An analysis of the
historical evolution of the presidential office, written in 1908 when
Wilson was the President of Princeton University and here published
separately for the first time. SIGNED by the author as President on the
front endpaper and dated by him "24 Oct. 1916," just months before
Wilson urged Congress to declare war on Germany and the United States
entered the first World War. Books autographed by Wilson are rather
uncommon; those signed as President are genuinely scarce. Close to Fine,
lacking the scarce dustwrapper. (#016945) $6,000.00
