In 1575 Plantin printed a 5-volume "monumental edition" (Voet) of the CORPUS JURIS CIVILIS, edited by Louis Le Caron, the French lawyer, poet & philosopher. All 5 parts were sold separately. When they were purchased together they are found in 2 volumes; a single volume for the DIGESTORUM SEU PANDECTARUM, a text of over 800pp., and the other 4 parts (parts 2-5) are usually found bound together as in this copy. Complete sets (all 5 parts) are rare. See Adams who lists the parts separately – J520, J689 and J690 (separate numbers for the 2 parts of this title), J616, and J649. The DIGESTA, not with our volume, is J597. See Voet's PLANTIN PRESS #1035 (pages 735-740) for a detailed discussion.
