ANDERSEN, Hans Christian. FAIRY TALES and HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN: THE 
MAKER OF FAIRY TALES. New York: Limited Editions Club, 1942. Two octavo 
volumes (6" x 9-1/4") bound in rose buckram and boards decorated with 
designs by Fritz Kredel. Translated, edited and with an introduction by 
Jean Hersholt with a series of letters from Andersen to Horace Scudder 
hitherto unpublished. Illustrated with drawings by Fritz Kredel colored 
by hand by Charlize Brakeley. Copy #1431 of 1500 SIGNED by the 
illustrator and by the translator on the colophon page. Small university 
bookplate on the front pastedown of each volume. Monthly Letter laid in. 
Fine in a Very Good slipcase with a short split at top. (#013838)
