1899-1900. First Edition, First Printing. First 
edition. Octavo, two volumes. Original red cloth 
with a device in blind on upper covers, spines 
titled in gilt. xvi + 361; x + 261 pp. One large 
folding plate facing p. 119 of Vol. 1; two large 
folding plates (including The Sumero-Semitic 
Planisphere) and 14 additional illustrations in 
Vol 2. This copy is lacking the plates facing pp. 
282 & 338 of Vol I, but there is no evidence of 
their removal; as well, we have a had another 
copy likewise lacking these two plate; these were 
most likely not bound in due to a binder's error. 
Neat repair to outer rear hinge of Vol 2; spines 
just a touch faded and a few stray marks to the 
cloth, a very good, bright set in the original cloth.

¶ A mass of information based on the author's 
researches into the tablets of Babylonia and 
Assyria which relate to the constellations and 
the heavenly bodies as they understood them. A major work.
