TITLE: “A Manual of Costume as Illustrated by Monumental Brasses”

By Herbert Druitt.
Published in London by Alexander Moring Ltd. in 1906.

DISCUSSION: One longstanding tool of clothing and costume historians is to
study monumental brasses of the Medieval Period through the 16th and 17th
centuries to see how people were dressed during various periods. Given the
large variety of figures, both male and female, from many walks of life
pictured on these brasses, they form a readily available source for ideas
about the costuming of the upper and military and ecclesiastical classes.
This early study groups the brasses, as they usually are grouped, by type
of dress and gender.

DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 6"x9", xxii + 384 pages, many black & white plates.

CONDITION NOTES: The covers have some light wear. The book interior has
some minor soil, but otherwise is clean and nice, with a tight binding.

PRICE: $50 -
