Edition. Contemporary 1/2 red morocco leather with matching corners and 
marbled boards. Illustrated with portraits and a folding map. Twain's 
last three appearances in his role as columnist comprising 17 stories 
and articles. The April issue contains his eloquent farewell to his 
readers: "During these eight months death has taken two members of my 
home circle and malignantly threatened two others." Also includes works 
by Julia Ward Howe and Bayard Taylor, as well as Walt Whitman's poem "O 
Star of France." Small leather bookplate of collector Arthur W. Lissauer 
on the front pastedown .Mild rubbing; some edgewear. Contents clean.
