POPE, Alexander. THE POETICAL WORKS OF ALEXANDER POPE, ESQ. Glasgow:
Andrew Foulis, 1785. First Foulis Press Edition. Three folio (9-1/4" x
15") volumes bound in contemporary sprinkled calf leather with
contrasting maroon and black morocco spine labels and gilt spine
lettering and decoration. Perhaps the most elegant edition of Pope's
works, printed in large type and with wide margins. List of subscribers
at the end of the third volume. Frequent and occasionally severe
offsetting to the text as is often the case with this title; a few pages
darkened. Moderate wear to corners, a few nicks to the covers, joints
tender with those on the second volume partly split but still fairly
tight. Still a Near Fine copy of an impressive work. (#004865)
