A Catalogue of the Lords, Knights, and Gentlemen, that have Compounded for their Estates. To which are Added. Some Gentlemens Names, which were Omitted in the former Edition. London [Chester]: Printed for Thomas Dring, 1655. And Chester: re-printed by R. Adams, [1733]. First edition thus. Small 8vo in 19th-century diced calf with gilt-tooled border and lettering; [16], 128, [2] pp.; with the list of subscribers and terminal index leaf; woodcut decorations and initials. ESTC T129076.

The names and details of those worthy gents and aristos who ended up on the wrong end of the English Civil War. A reprint of the 1655 catalogue, published by subscription and with an added dedicatory preface by the editor, Roger Adams. Modest bumping and rubbing to the binding; mild toning and occasional spotting to the leaves; otherwise clean and sound, firmly bound. Front paste-down with the handsome engraved bookplate of "William Bateman. F.A.S. of Middleton-by-Yolgrave in the County of Derby", with 2 pp. of ms. notes in a 19th-century hand (presumably Bateman's) preceding the title-page and four names on two pages underlined. Rather uncommon: ESTC locates only five copies in the U.S.
