Mortician's 1896-1909 Ledger of Billheads from Suppliers.

Utica, New York: 1896-1909.

A fascinating ledger -instead of simply entering line items for their
expenses, the John T. Garvey firm of Utica, New York pasted all the
billheads into this ledger book. Includes bills for caskets and casket
hardware, embalming supplies, undertaker dry-goods, candles, funeral
furnishings, and more. In fact, this apparently shows exactly what was
needed to run a funeral & undertaking business as the 19th century closed
and the 20th began, and how often supplies needed to be re-ordered.

Hardcover ledger, 10"x12.5", about 400 pages. Some wear and soil.

Price: $1,200 -
