STRONG, L.A.G. A DEFENSE OF IGNORANCE. New York: House of Books, 1932.
First Edition. Copy #226 of 200(!) SIGNED copies. Additionally INSCRIBED
by the author in 1937 to poet John Gawsworth. Light sunning to spine.
Very Good.

Terence Ian Fytton Armstrong, better known as John Gawsworth, was a
British writer, poet and compiler of anthologies. As literary executor
to fantasy writer M. P. Shiel, Armstrong also inherited the throne of
the Kingdom of the micronation associated with the tiny uninhabited
Caribbean island of Redonda styling himself H.M. Juan I. According to
John Sutherland's LIVES OF THE NOVELISTS, "the excessively minor poet
John Gawsworth" kept the ashes of M. P. Shiel "in a biscuit tin on his
mantelpiece, dropping a pinch as condiment into the food of any
particularly honoured guest." (#001305) $75.00
