(AMERICANA) [Jacob, John J.]. A BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF THE LIFE OF THE LATE CAPT. MICHAEL CRESAP. Cumberland, MD: Printed for the Author by J. M. Buchanan. 1826. First edition. 12mo. 123,(1)pp. Cont. calf over marbled boards. The final 20 pages with an old water stain at the lower outer margin, otherwise an excellent copy, as published. This copy with a number of interesting textual corrections (in the author's hand?), such as (original reading) "had a pondorous box" to (corrected) "had a Pandora's box."	$2,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
A rare book, written as a defense of Cresap from Jefferson's charges against him in the Logan affair. Cresap had been accused of the murder of the Indian Logan and his defenseless family. See New Howes J31 ("dd"); Sabin 35488; Streeter III, 1335.
