Poe, Edgar Allan, illustrated by Edmund Dulac. The Bells and Other Poems
(1/750, SIGNED by Dulac).
London, New York & Toronto: Hodder & Stoughton, [October 1912]. Limited
edition. Folio, bound in vellum stamped in gilt on upper board and spine
with Dulac design of clusters of bells. Top edge gilt. Fore and bottom
edges left untrimmed. Condition: very good.
Copy #430 of 750, SIGNED by Dulac on limitation page. Dulac
art inside includes 28 plates in four colors, mounted on white art paper
with tissue guards, guards printed with black letterpress titles, 10
headpieces in black ink on tan backgrounds, and the portrait of Poe on
title page. Mild soil to binding, mild tanning to endpapers, prior owner
bookplate on front pastedown. Lacking original grosgrain ties to fore
edges of boards. HUGHEY #29.
