Church of England. THE BOOKE OF COMMON PRAYER and Administration of the Sacraments... London: Robert Barker and by the Assignes of John Bill. 1631. Sm. folio. 2 parts in 1, each with a separate dated title page, but the register is continuous. ff.(231) of 232 leaves, lacking the final leaf which is a blank. Both titles within woodcut borders, the first title printed in red & black. The Calendar also printed in red & black. Large woodcut initials. Bound in cont. black calf, gilt, with the royal coat-of-arms for the Order of the Garter and the motto, "Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense," on both covers. Rebacked at an early date, with the original gilt spine laid down. First title-page is backed, with a tear at the inner margin (no loss). The second leaf is defective, with a section in the middle of the leaf torn away. Edges of the boards are rubbed, with some chipping. A.e.g.    $1,250.00 (trade discount allowed)

A scarce folio edition by Robert Barker, who also printed numerous editions in 4to. and 8vo. STC 16383. Note: the copy at the Huntington is also defective with a text leaf mutilated.
