British Edition. This likely precedes the American edition, as did her
first book, THE LOVE EATERS, as Settle was living in England at the
time. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author to her second husband: "The
first copy to/Den [Douglas Newton] with my love/from/Mary Lee." Settle
was married to Newton, a poet and eventual curator at the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, from 1946 to 1956. The dustwrapper was designed by
Barbara Jones. Near Fine in a Very Good dustwrapper with small chips at
the spine tips and a large chip at the base of the rear panel.
