Originally published in 14 parts. With detailed articles on the birds of Mongolia & Tibet, New Zealand, the Fiji Islands, New Guinea, Madagascar, etc. There is an article on "American Parrots" with color plates. The number of color plates varies, with copies recorded in the auction records with 80 to 105 colored plates, and often copies have less than the complete total of 139 plates.
