Schedel, Hartmann. LIBER CHRONICARUM... Nuremberg: Anton Koberger. July 12, 1493. Folio. ff.(20),I-CCLXXXXIX,(6). This copy with ff.324 (of 326), lacking the final blank, and leaf CCLVIIII, which is blank except for a printed headline (replaced in this copy with a plain, old blank leaf). With the other two numbered blanks (CCLX and CCLXI), and the 5 unnumbered leaves containing the "De Sarmacia Regione." The portrait of Pope Joan (verso of ff.CLXIX) is un-mutilated. 
A tall copy (439mm). nicely rubricated throughout. One large 14-line floral initial in red & brown. Profusely illustrated with over 1,800 woodcuts, including the 2 double-page maps (World Map and Map of Europe). Bound in 17th century ornately gilt tooled paneled calf, both covers with a gilt central ornament. Finely rebacked to match. A.e.g. and nicely gauffered. With the bookplate of J, Hamilton Leigh and the armorial bookplate of Jacobus Cowan de Rosshall.
Title with a repaired tear at blank lower portion, and 64 leaves with blank marginal repairs, which are mostly small repairs, blank margins being reinforced with thin strips of paper at an early date. Some occasional soiling, but overall a very clean attractive copy.    $95,000.00 (trade discount allowed)
