SIGNED ADMIRAL BYRD SKYWARD WITH EXPEDITION PAPERS SIGNED DR COMAN

We offer this small but interesting collection of material from within Admiral Richard E. Byrd's Antarctic Expedition to Little America in 1929. Dr. F. Dana Coman was the expedition's physician.
Here are the pieces; a copy of Byrd's book;
Byrd, Richard E. Skyward. New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1928.
First edition, octavo, pp. xv, (i), 359, illustrated, frontispiece sepia portrait of Byrd and forty-six black and white plates, map endpapers; blue cloth gilt, very good, spine lightly faded. Signed card by Byrd affixed below his portrait and dated April 27, 1928, (See photos). Byrd's recapitulation of aviation exploration and his future plans for an Antarctic Expedition.

Next a telegram from F. D. Coman in New York, to Dr. Charles Essick of Reading Pa. "Dr. C. R. Essrick / Gorgeous Package Arrived Sincerest Thanks What About The Goggles FDC"

Next a radiogram from F. D. Coman on board the Bark "City of New York" Admiral Byrd's Exploration ship, October 29, (1929) to Dr. Charles Essick of Reading Pa. He was also a doctor and the sole owner of Pennsylvania Optical Co that supplied material to Byrd. " Radio from Byrd / Your package mailed ok / Many thanks and Best Wishes to all / Expect call Tahiti Thursday. F.D. Coman"

Essicks had supplied goggles to the expedition.

Next a vintage copy of a radiogram "From Byrd Antartic Expedition Received By The New York Times. Little America, January 3, 1930. Dr. Lewis H. Weed, The Latrobe, Baltimore Md. Glad to hear from you all at Cleveland. Have lately been away from base working on survey of Bay of Whales region biological and other-wise. Dr. Essicks glasses undoubtedly best. Regards to mother and staff. Coman"

Essicks glasses are the best!

Finally a letter, an autograph letter, signed (Als.) from F. D. Coman on Biltmore stationery in New York, to Dr. Charles Essick of Reading Pa. Monday the 4th (most probably post expedition) Coman thanks Essick for sending a clipping and informs him that he will be in Reading Pa on Thursday and looks forward to "seeing all of you again".
