Archibald Hamilton Rutledge (1883–1973) was an American poet and educator,
the first South Carolina poet laureate from 1934 to 1973. He wrote over 50
books and many poems, usually about his hunting and life experiences in
South Carolina. This book reflects his experiences as Professor of English
at Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania,1904 to 1937, before he returned to
his old rice-plantation home in South Carolina. The dust-wrapper blurb
calls this work "...a frank, constructive study and review of modern
education and modern educational methods, written by one who has spent many
years in teaching boys--and still loves them, who knows the benefits and
drawbacks of modern educational methods." (#036699) $500.00
