First Edition. Quarto, original blue printed
wrappers, stapled at spine. 54 pp, tipped-in
frontspiece portrait of Doyle. 200 copies
printed. A mimeographed notice from the press,
relating to scheduled publications, is loosly
laid in. This sheet is inscribed at the bottom:
"Dear V.S. - This doesn't concern you - but I
send it in case you (need?) scrap paper - P
Ruber. P.S. Would Like your opinions & comments
of this." One can safely assume from the
inscription that the book was sent to "V.S." by
Ruber, but is "V.S." Vincent Starrett? Likely,
says this cataloguer. Wrappers lightly worn at
edges, short closed tear (neatly repaired) at
bottom edge of front panel, wrappers tanning
towards the sides, staples with a bit rusty; a
very good copy. Very scarce. Green & Gibson B48.
