hand-bound by Smith Settle in quarter Moroccan 
goatskin leather blocked in gold, with sides of 
gold hand-woven pure Indian silk, full leather 
slipcases blocked on gold, top edges gilt, ribbon 
bookmarkers. Binding spines and slipcases with 
gilt calligraphic titles by John Andrew. Map 
endpapers in 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the 
Rings', folding map printed in red and black at 
rear of 'The Silmarillion'. 1750 copies issued, 
each copy hand-numbered, this being a uniformly 
numbered set, each volume being Number 603. Two 
miniscule bumps to the rear board of the slipcase 
for 'The Hobbit'; a uniformly fine set without 
dust jackets in fine leather slipcases, as 
issued. The illustrated prospectus for this 
deluxe issue of 'The Hobbit' is also included. A 
beautifully illustrated and bound set of the last great classics.
