Greetings,
We offer:
~
Physicians' , Dentists' and Druggists' Directory of the New England States.
Chicago-Boston: Galen Gonesir & Co., Publishers, 1892. Octavo, original
cloth, approx. 300 pages, very good. Interesting reference to New
England doctors, dentists, and pharmacists at the end of the 19th
century. Considerable quackery still in evidence in the fascinating
advertising at front and rear of the volume. Actual contents include
national codes of ethics for dentists and doctors, list of dentists by
New England state, sample fee bills for various medical and dental
treatments ranging from syphilis to gold fillings. The bulk of the
directory lists the physicians by New England state. And then there are,
of course, the ads. Bound in a dark teal green pebbled cloth over boards
with spine titled in gilt. Slight foxing to endpapers, otherwise quite
bright. Minor extremity rubs. ...$250. Not yet catalogued, photos
available on request.
