[JOHNSON, Lyndon B.] WHITE, William S. THE PROFESSIONAL: LYNDON B.
JOHNSON. Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, (1964). First Edition. Fourth
Printing. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the subject on the front endpaper: "To
all my friends/the Lawrence Kleins/from their friend/Lyndon B Johnson."
Books genuinely signed by LBJ are quite scarce, this one most
especially. I have personally examined more than 50 "signed" copies of
this title, and ALL were secretarially signed "with best wishes." The
book seems to have been given to various donors and VIPs with this
secretarial signature. This particular copy has a more personal
inscription. At first thought, one would expect Klein to be the Nobel
Prize economist who was one of Jimmy Carter's chief economic advisers;
however, he is much more likely the foreman who was in charge of the
complete renovation of the Johnson Texas ranch and who attended the same
Junction School as LBJ. Slightly cocked. Very Good or better in a
price-clipped, Very Good dustwrapper. (#015424) $750.00
