Valerius Maximus. MORALIUM EXEMPLORUM LIBRI NOVEM, Summa Diligentia Castigata... Oliverii S. Arzignanensis, Jodocique Ascensii Badii... Nuper Aldi Manutii Industria Inventa... Venice: No printer (Bonellus?). 1536. Folio. ff.(12),ccxlvi. Central text surrounded by commentary. Each of the 9 "books" with a fine woodcut (3" x 3-1/4"). Some large woodcut initials. Cont. vellum, soiled, morocco spine label. Text with some old soiling, and some light brown stains. Some minor worming at blank inner margin, not affecting the text. Overall, a good copy of a rare edition. $1,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
An old printed dealer's description attributes the printer as Bonellus, although this is not confirmed by the Censimento (CNCE 48198) or FirstSearch. Also, the description states "first edition with these commentaries." Not in BL Italian STC or in Adams.
