[William Combe; Thomas Rowlandson, illus.:] The Tour of Doctor Syntax, in Search of the Picturesque. A Poem. London: Ackermann, 1815. Sixth edition. Bound in full polished calf by Riviere, spine tooled in gilt, marbled endpapers, page edges gilt; iii, [1], 276, [2] pp; complete with an engraved title-page and 30 hand-colored plates by Rowlandson, with plate guards (presumably added by the same owner who had the work bound).

Binding with some wear at the extremities, light scuffing to the rear board; front joint professionally repaired; small chip to the corner of the front marbled endpaper, short edge-tear to advertisement leaf; offsetting to the plate guards, modest toning to the contents, occasional small spots; otherwise clean and sound, handsomely bound. Front paste-down with the armorial bookplate of Henry D. Caruso.
