THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE... for January – [December] 1776. [Edited by] Sylvanus Urban [pseud.]. London: D. Henry. 1776. 12 original monthly issues. 608pp. in total. Title of each issue with a woodcut at top. Illustrated with 6 copper engraved plates, including a folding view of Cambridge University, and with 8 folding maps, including 4 American maps, a map of the South Pole, and a map of Captain Cook's Discoveries. Each of the 12 issues with a later thin linen strip reinforcing the spine, and each with 3 staples at this inner edge.    $6,000.00 (trade discount allowed)
The August issue contains one of the early British printings of "The Declaration of Independence." Many copies lack some of the plates or maps. This set of the original 12 issues is complete. "Sylvanus Urban" was the pseudonym for Edward Cave.
