1937. Quarto (7" x 10") bound in green buckram and printed by R. & R.
Clark with a previously unpublished 6000-word preface by George Bernard
Shaw. This edition is also bibliographically important in that it is the
first time Dickens's original "unhappy" ending to this great novel was
published. This is copy #509 of 1500 with 55 illustrations by Gordon
Ross and SIGNED by the illustrator on the colophon page. Wrinkle on
spine created when bound for the publisher. Very mild sunning to the
spine with none of the discoloration often found with this title. About
