Stapleton, Jean. TYPEWRITTEN LETTER SIGNED (TLS) FROM THIS BROADWAY AND TV
STAR TO THEATER HISTORIAN DORIS ABRAMSON, September 1, 1979. Original
manuscript. One page, quarto. Ms. Stapleton thanks Ms. Abramson for sending
her a "Shirley Booth letter," calling Booth "a beacon in my career" when
Stapleton toured and understudied her in "Come Back Little Sheba." She
invites Ms. Abramson to visit her backstage after a play at Boston's
Shubert Theatre. Signed in full.  Accompanied by the original envelope with
return address: Jean Stapleton, KTTV, 5752 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA
90028. Very Good.
At this point, "All in the Family" had just ended. Jean Stapleton appeared
in some of the first-season episodes of the spinoff, "Archie Bunker's
Place," then took on other roles for stage, film and television, including
a one-woman show as Eleanor Roosevelt. Prior to "Family" she had appeared
in "Damn Yankees," "Funny Girl," "Bells Are Ringing," &c. $50.00
