MEMORANDUM AND ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION OF THE GLASGOW SCHOOL OF  ART. 
Published by Ballantyne, Kirkwood, France & Co. 1892. 12 pages, tall 
quarto, original sewn wrappers. Disbound at spine, all edges of the 
very fragile outer wrappers somewhat chipped.

These are the original Articles of Association for the founding of 
The Glasgow School of Art, The first Object of the Association is "To 
continue, and take over the assests and liabilities of the Art School 
which has existed in Glasgow since 1842, latterly under the name "THE 
GLASGOW SCHOOL OF ART AND HALDANE ACADEMY.""

Subscribers include just 9 names, the first being Rob Blackie 
(Publisher), plus David S, Cargill (Merchant), Joseph Henderson 
(Artist), A.G. MacDonald, John Norman (Engineer), John Ingram 
(Tapestry manufacturer), John Veitch (Professor), James Fleming 
(Manufacturer) and Mark Ballantyne (Solicitor).

The Glasgow School of Art was housed in one of Glasgow's most famous 
buildings, often considered the masterpiece of Charles Rennie 
Mackintosh and built between 1897 and 1909. The building was severely 
damaged by fire in May 2014.
