LIMITED EDITION of 350 copies, this is number 315, printed by Taylor & Taylor (Edward Dewitt & Henry H. Taylor), in handset Caslon Old Style on handmade paper. Small 4to. 8 7/8 x 6 inches. [vi], (77), 1 pp. Title-page vignette, plus an additional vignette at the head of the text; text clean, unmarked. Quarter red cloth, patterned paper over boards, gilt-stamped spine; binding square and tight, very minor shelf wear. Near Fine. Lilith was considered by many to be George Sterling's best sustained work. It was originally published in San Francisco in 1919, but the first printing was so wretched that the Book Club of California re-issued the book with corrected text and a handsome, lasting format. George Sterling was among the circle of artists that revolved around the Bohemian Club and was considered by many in California to be the best poet in the United States in the early twentieth century.
