New Hampshire. ACTS AND LAWS OF HIS MAJESTY'S PROVINCE OF NEW-HAMPSHIRE IN
NEW-ENGLAND, WITH SUNDRY ACTS OF PARLIAMENT [Association Copy]. By Order of
the General Assembly. The which is prefix'd the Commissions of President
John Cuttss[sic], Esq; and His Excellency John Wentworth, Esq;[sic].
Portsmouth [NH]: Printed by Daniel and Robert Fowle, 1771. First edition
thus. pp: 6, 8, 5, iv, 286, 72, xiii (index). Printed in hand-set type on
heavy stock. Old tissue repair to gutter of title-page, and lower corner
chipped with no text loss. Bound in old calf, raised bands, tooled
dentelles, red-leather spine label, "1771" gilt-stamped on spine. 11.5" x
7.25" Very Good. Full Calf.
Signed at the top of the front pastedown endpaper: "1794 - Wm. Plumer's."
 Two old entries on verso of front free-endpaper, as follow. (1) "For the
Library of the New Hampshire Historical Society / From William Plumer /
Epping August 11, 1830." (2) "Memo. Wm Plumer was Governor of N.H. in 1816
when the controversy arose about the Charter of Dartmouth College....and
taken by writ of error to the Supreme Court of the United States, in which
case Daniel Webster at the age of 35 made his first argument before that
august tribunal.... [signed] W.H. Lawyes." Also signed on the title-page by
Wm. Claggett. [Evans 12146]   $1,500.00
