Barker. Cover by Bill Garniss. Yarmouth, MA: Bass River Golf Club Ass'n,

The text details the design and evolution of the Bass River Golf Course,
known as one of Cape Cod's best and oldest courses. Our copy of this book
is from the library of golfer Ogden Noyes, with extensive handwritten
comments by him. On the title page: "I have enjoyed several rounds of golf
with both Roland Barker and Bill Garniss--Ogden Noyes." A marginal note
refers to playing golf for two years with course designer and pro, James
Shepherd, Jr. Inside the back cover are more than 20 lines written in blue
ink and signed by Noyes in 1977: more about playing golf with Shepherd in
1924-25; Frank Sheehy, Master at Waltham High School; Ogden's "love affair"
with Cape Cod; &c. [Donovan & Murdoch, The Game of Golf & the Printed Word,
