the Physic-Garden, Wilderness, Conservatory, and Vineyard. In which like
parts are included the Practical Parts of Husbandry; and the Method of
Making and Preserving Wines, according to the Practice of Foreign
Vignerons. Abridged from the Two Volumes in Folio, by the Author. In Three
Volumes. The Third Edition, Corrected. London: Printed for the Author,
1748. Revised & Enlarged Edition. Three volumes, thick octavo, unpaginated;
engraved frontispiece view in Vol I; one plate in Vol II, "The Upright of
the Greenhouse and Stoves"; one plate in Vol III, "A Plan of the Stove."
Bound in sprinkled calf, panelled spines with elaborate gilt-tooled designs
and red leather labels; image of Saint Paul and motto gilt-tooled on
covers; St. Paul's School Valpey Prize ticket inside cover of Vol I. Trace
of scattered foxing. Three volumes, 8" x 5" Very Good.
The author was "Gardener to the Worshipful Company of Apothecaries, at
their Botanic Garden, in Chelsea" (title page).    $750.00
