Some text foxing, particularly of the outer leaves. A presentation copy, inscribed on a preliminary leaf to Mrs. M. H. Brantly and signed by Rembrandt Peale, dated 1858.      $1,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
The last book written by one of the great early American painters. The preface (pp. 3-14) was written by Peale and there are some original poems by Peale in the text (see p. 51, 71-72, 158-159, 182, 234-235). The remainder of the work is a compilation of excerpts from other writers who inspired Peale.
